In this week's podcast episode, I delve into the concept of people-pleasing, a behaviour that's often overlooked but can have a significant impact on our lives. Drawing from my personal experiences and client sessions, I explore the subtle ways people-pleasing shows up and how it ties closely to our sense of identity. I discuss the spectrum of people-pleasing, ranging from occasional tendencies to a lifestyle where we constantly put others' needs ahead of our own.

I examine the complex relationship between people-pleasing and being highly sensitive. If you're highly sensitive, you often empathise deeply with others' emotions, which can make you feel compelled to support and please them. This connection can lead to patterns of behaviour that are hard to break, especially if they're rooted in childhood experiences or societal pressures that encourage external validation.

I also talk about avoiding conflict, a common trait among people-pleasers, and how it can lead to deeper issues like resentment and frustration. To illustrate these points, I share personal stories and insights, emphasising the importance of building internal validation and acknowledging our own needs.

During this episode, I encourage you to consider where you fall on the people-pleasing scale and think about the impact it has on your life. My goal is to give you actionable insights and empower you to reclaim your own desires and priorities while still maintaining your compassionate and kind nature.

Join me as I explore people-pleasing, its underlying causes, and how you can take steps to move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I hope that by sharing my experiences and insights, you'll gain a deeper understanding of this behaviour and find ways to prioritise your own well-being.
