After recovering from foot surgery, I embarked on this immersive experience, discovering profound insights that have reshaped my approach to equine facilitated learning. I recount my days in London, navigating intensive training sessions with Somatic International, renowned for its structured and professional approach. Reflecting on my connection to horses, particularly a significant equine companion named Harry, I unravel how my experiences with traumatized horses unknowingly introduced me to somatic practices, fostering a deeper understanding of body awareness and healing. Throughout the training, we dived into the intricate workings of the somatic nervous system, exploring the nuances of fight, flight, freeze, and more. Our charismatic instructor, Gavi, shared wisdom rooted in the teachings of pioneers like Peter Levine and Gabor Maté, enlightening us about our innate abilities to manage trauma responses.
