These changes can lead to a variety of symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. 2. Breast changes: During menopause, the breast tissue becomes less dense and the risk of breast cancer increases. Women should regularly perform breast self-exams and have regular mammograms as recommended by their healthcare provider. 3. Bone health: Menopause can lead to a loss of bone density, which increases the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Women should discuss the appropriate screening and preventative measures with their healthcare provider. 4. Cardiovascular health: Menopause is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Sexual health: Menopause can cause changes in sexual function, including vaginal dryness and decreased libido.
