Back in the wild west, there were wanted posters for bad guys. They usually had a picture of the wanted criminal and some other description of them and their crime. One of the first wanted posters for Jesse James was for $500 for his conviction. He had to be alive and taken to court. Another later rendition the wanted poster after he had become a worst criminal had the reward of $25,000 for him dead or alive. That makes it easy for the bounty hunter but deadly for the criminal.
We as sinners before we confessed Christ as Lord and Savior were worthy of death. Sin had separated us from God. But at one point we came to a decision to stop sinning as a lifestyle and turn our lives over to God and his son Jesus. At that point we passed from death until life. We were reconciled to God and brought into his family. Unfortunately our minds can still hold on to the former corrupt habits. Does sin still hold you as a prisoner? Do you still identify as a criminal as a sinner? The truth is you are wanted by God. But he wants you alive to him. He wants you to turn from your sin and live as his child. You have a new identity in Christ. In today's episode I will explore the paradox of being dead and alive. Give a listen.
