On today's episode of Yours Mentally we discuss about Unlearning. This episode is in conversation with Rhea Kishnani who is a psychotherapist.
We begin the episode by talking about what exactly is unlearning. We also talk about why it is important to unlearn in today's time.
Rhea then goes on to tell us few things she has unlearned since she started practicing therapy.
We then discuss if there is a certain time span in which unlearning can take place and can even deeply embedded ideas be unlearned.
We also discuss whether unlearning happens unconsciously or deliberately and can things be unlearned without putting an effort?
Rhea then goes on to talk about the difference between unlearning and forgetting.
We also discuss that when it comes to societal standards of beauty and diet culture, do we need to unlearn certain things?
Lastly we talk about how can one help someone who’s had a certain fixed idea for a very long time unlearn that idea/belief.
