11. When Your Inner Teen Shows Up in Adulthood with Brooke Schmidt, MA, LMFT
Manage episode 365990176 series 3459968
In this week’s episode, I’m joined by Brooke Schmidt, MA, LMFT as we discuss how our inner teen can sometimes take over in our responses as an adult. Brooke Schmidt is a licensed therapist and married mom of 3 who can relate firsthand to the joys and struggles of marriage and parenting! She can't stand watching couples live in "stable misery" which is why she's so passionate about helping people better understand themselves so that they can stop generational patterns and learn how to cultivate more relational joy!
When you find yourself feeling irritated or defensive in your relationships, there’s a chance your adaptive teenage self is competing with your functional adult self. Brooke and I talk about specific examples that you will find relatable. You will leave this episode thinking about your teenage years and how it potentially impacts your functional adult self.
