Acupuncture has gained popularity for its ability to provide relief without having to take medications, and works effectively as a treatment for pain management. The practice of acupuncture can have a positive impact on the opioid epidemic in the United States because as a treatment for pain or other health conditions it helps reduce the use of painkillers and opioids that some users find highly addictive. What is Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day? ? It is part of an effort designed to increase public awareness of the progress, promise, and benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine to treat pain and addiction. ? Oct. 24 marks the 16th annual AOM day. We are celebrating this year in partnership with the NCCAOM – the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Why has there been a sudden increase of acupuncture use in the United States? ? Acupuncture has gained popularity because it provides relief without having to take medications. ?
