This week's focus has been on health and well-being. It is Day 15 in our Season of Affirmations. and today's affirmation is "My ability to forgive others frees me to lead a more fulfilling life ."
When someone wrongs you and you hold on to negative feelings in your hart, guess whose life is being damaged? Your own!
Psychology experts say that holding grudges can significantly impact your mental and physical health. It’s like that often quoted statement that says, being reluctant to forgive someone is like "drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick or die."

As difficult as it may be, it’s really important to choose forgiveness before the hurt you feel turns to bitterness and resentment. Even when you would be justified in getting even, the better path is to choose love over vindication. As former First Lady, Michelle Obama ,once famously said, “When they go low, we go high.”

If we care enough about others, we can, with practice, learn to overlook unintentional hurts and abrasive responses, from family, friends and strangers. Instead we can learn to be empathetic, and to treat others the way we want to be treated.

For today’s journal entry…

  1. Is there someone you need to forgive?
  2. Can you find it in your heart to do so?
  3. Can you reach out to that individual by text, or email or phone to let them know that you’re letting it go… and letting it be… whatever “it” may be.

What a liberating experience that will be for you
