Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. In his commercial photography career, David photographed The Eagles’ Hotel California album cover, the Blues Brothers’ album covers and movie poster, and The Terminator movie poster.
Some of the artists for whom he photographed album covers are Aretha Franklin, Linda Rondstadt, James Taylor, James Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Ringo Starr, Tina Turner, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doobie Brothers, The Steve Miller Band, and The Allman Brothers. How’s that for a star-studded line up?
He also photographed movie posters for Bill Murray’s Stripes, Richard Pryor Live on Sunset Strip, 9 To 5 with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, Fletch, and others.
