Meet Sarah Priya Sookchand as she describes her journey to Ayurveda at the age of 23- which is one of healing from auto-immune conditions (lupus and rheumatoid arthritis). This was after 4 years of conventional medical treatment with some of the top practitioners in the U.S. and a protocol of pharmaceuticals. She accompanied her parents on a trip to Trinidad ( where they were born and later emigrated to the U.S.) and after fainting outdoors, a kind bystander told her that she knew someone who could help her. Hence began Sarah's alliance with Ishtara Centre of Natural Healing in Trinidad. Here, she was introduced to Ayurveda and color/light therapy with gemstones. Within a period of three months, she was able to bring her body to a state of balance by implementing a natural approach to healing. Previously bedridden and unable to hold consistent employment due to her debilitating health conditions, she secured a job with a healthcare company and enrolled in a Master's program in Ayurveda at Maharishi International University. She was determined to learn as much as she could about Ayurveda, a system of self-healing that restores the body's inner intelligence. Sarah also describes her recent experience with panchakarma (an Ayurvedic purification or detoxification therapy) and how this cleared toxins, not only physically - but mentally and energetically. She shares her top tips for starting an Ayurvedic morning ritual that will energize your day and improve the quality of your life. She also shares her method about how to make healthy habits stick. Ladies and gents, this lovely gem is a pitta dosha, meaning she is on-fire with Ayurveda and is determined to share this beautiful wisdom with individuals near and far.
