I am a massive consumer of books and content. I like to share the very best of what I consume with the people I love and serve. I recently read a book titled Be Your Future Self Now by Dr. Benjamin Hardy. This is a great book, and succinctly shares some personal development wisdom in a clear and powerful way. But there was one line in this book that hit me hard. Dr. Hardy suggested to "Fail as your future self instead of succeeding as your current self" so that you can grow into the person capable of creating that powerful future.
The primary elements of this episode are:

  1. I discuss the power of creating a vision for your future life. If your quality of life is not doubling every 3-5 years, then you're not dreaming big enough. Get clear about what an amazing future life looks like for you so that you can get to work.
  2. You are not capable of creating that new life. You - as you are currently designed - created this life. You must become the person capable of creating that life. Get clear about what must evolve and develop in order to create the new circumstances.
  3. Wake up each day as that new person. Be that new version of you, now. But don't be surprised if you fail as the new you. It's better to fail as the future you instead of succeed as the current you. That's how you learn to succeed as the future you to create the new future.
