Uncover the mysteries of your body's energy systems with Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming, as we traverse the convergence of Eastern spiritual traditions and Western science. One of the most prolific authors in the world on martial arts and qigong, Dr. Yang is known for using his scientific background to introduce ancient qigong theories and practices to western audiences, with a martial arts background in White Crane Kung Fu, Long Fist Kung Fu, and Yang-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi). Dr. Yang joins us to reveal how the four categories of Qigong can escalate one's journey from healing to higher consciousness. He compares the Western understanding of the central nervous system and the Chinese concept of the central qi system, both attempting to elucidate the electrical dynamics inherent within the human body. He shares how women tend to have strong natural qi, which often makes them energetically sensitive and naturally suited for healing work. As Buddhism mingled with ancient Chinese beliefs, Dr. Yang guides us through the resulting religious Taoism and the influence of Indian yoga on Chinese Qigong. We delve into the anatomy of energy according to these traditions, exploring meridians, chakras and dantians. Dr. Yang enlightens us on how disciplines such as physics and mathematics parallel the spiritual practice of meditation, and how mastering the art of stillness can lead to profound personal transformation. He discusses the Taoist principle of Wu Wei, the effortless action of "doing non-doing" that emerges from a profound level of practice. Our conversation culminates in the exploration of the human potential for enlightenment and the untapped capabilities of our minds: considering the body as a bioelectric system or a bio-battery, we contemplate the notion of enlightenment as the result of increasing and balancing energy flow through its circuitry, awakening dormant brain cells and unlocking new frontiers of human consciousness.

In 1982, Dr Yang established Yang’s Martial Arts Association (YMAA) in Boston, MA. Since then the YMAA has grown into a network of 30 schools in over 15 countries with Dr. Yang travelling the world training students and giving seminars. Since 2005, Dr. Yang has resided in northern California where he trained a group of disciples in a multi-year comprehensive program from 2008-2018. Today, he continues to author books and teach seminars online and around the world.
