Many of us believe that meditation should bring us calm, peace and joy and that if we are not feeling this that we are failing at meditation. I want to comfort you that this is not the case! The essence of meditation is not peace and calm but simply awareness - awareness of whatever we are feeling and experiencing when we sit to meditate. In this meditation I guide you through finding that awareness. This takes patience and kindness towards the self - to accept that what we are feeling is temporary but it is where we are in this moment. The peace and calm comes when we can experience the agitation, the dullness, the fractious mind and still be accepting of it, safe in the knowledge that this too will pass!
