Erin Copelan's book "Welcome to Caregiving - What Caregivers Never Talk About" is the theme of our chat today. After years of caring for her husband Erin realised that she had to work really hard on healing the trauma of being a carer. This is the type of trauma that creeps up on you - it's not a bang-slap-whallop type of trauma but an attritional trauma of years of having to be on high alert, of worry, of heartbreak and grief. Understanding what carers go through will help not only other carers, but those who know carers in how to support them.
