In today's episode, I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with Dr. Chris van Tulleken, an esteemed physician, broadcaster, and author known for his profound contributions to medical science and public health.

We dive into the heart of a critical issue affecting our diets and health - ultra-processed foods. Dr. van Tulleken shares insights from his latest book, 'Ultra-Processed People - Why Do We All Eat Stuff That Isn't Food ... and Why Can't We Stop?', shedding light on why these foods are so prevalent in our diets and the challenges in avoiding them.

Our conversation spans from the health risks associated with ultra-processed foods, including obesity, mental health issues, cancer, and more, to Dr. van Tulleken's personal experiment of consuming an 80% ultra-processed food diet for a month. The results? Both shocking and enlightening. We discuss the addictive nature of ultra-processed foods, the role of additives, and how these foods are akin to drugs in their effect on our bodies.

Lastly we discuss what the solution is.
